Z'orr'tek was a Nezumi hunter of the Crooked Tail Tribe.

Youth[]

The Dark Enemy the Crooked Tail fought was quiet deadly, and cunning, the Lying Darkness, the thing that tooke Names, stealing face and scent with it. [1] When Z'orr was a youngling he and another pack-mate suffered a Dark Enemy attack. Z'orr'tek fled, leaving his comrade behind. He was shamed by his tribe. He was relegated to being a guardian of his warren when the other hunters went out. [2]

Fighting the Shadow[]

While guarding, his fallen friend appeared, faceless, to claim the youth. Z'orr'tek fought this time and drove out the enemy, but was bitten and wounded. After several days he was recovered from his wound, and encountered a tooth now free from his own flesh. Z'orr'tek had dreamed what to do, he chewed the tooth and remembered the name of the fallen friend: Jes'kik. His tribe understood that the threats from the Darkness could take his most precious nezumi treasure: his Name. [2] [3]

For each Ratling that died under his command, he carries away a tooth, [4] another Name that the Darkness could never steal so long as he lived. [3]

War against the Shadow[]

Z'orr'tek searched in the Shadowlands for souls taken by the Lying Darkness, determined to save them. [5]

Death[]

Z'orr'tek was an old rat when he died at the Battle of Oblivion's Gate. [2]

Legion of the Dead[]

Z'orr'tek appeared again as part of the Legion of the Dead, to aid in the fight against the Legion of Blood. [2]

Tomorrow[]

In 1169 the Chief of Chiefs Kan'ok'ticheck called the entire Nezumi race to face Tomorrow. They gathered to the Shinomen Forest. The magic of the Tomorrow's Hourglass was used by Mak'irtch to enter Yume-do and aid the Transcendents fight against Tomorrow. Dragons, or what appeared to be dragons, were approaching from a distance, destroying everything as they went. Entities resembling Lord Sun and Lady Moon walked at their side. Wherever they stepped, the land vanished in a haze. Ep'kee leapt the shadowy Dragon of Earth and sank his small axe into the hard carapace. Z'orr'tek, thrusted his spear between two great scales, and into its throat. The dragon threw Ep'kee clear into the side of the damaged city, killing him instantly. The Dragon crunched down with his great teeth on Z'orr'tek, as he started to dissipate. The body of the Nezumi hero fell alone, with the dragon gone completely. [6]
