Yusef al Kedar al Rassulii, the Sultan Yusef III, the "Protector of the Faithful", "Servant of Lady Sun", [1] the "Master of the Golden Orb", [2] the "Mighty", [3] was one of the decorative figurehead called Sultan during the reign of the Immortal Caliph Hanan Talibah. [4]
Family[]
Yusef was the son of Kedar the Bold and grandson of al-Rassulii. [3] He had two children, Sahlah and Effendi. [5]
Immortal Caliph[]
Yusef ancestor in the 9th century, from the family al-Rassulii, [6] was appointed recommended by the Immortal Caliph, and she became the de facto ruler of Medinat al-Salaam. From that moment on, she governed the city with an iron fist, with her Khadi patrolling the streets. Always fearful of anybody challenging her, she forbade any practitioners of magic into the city, and had shut down or even burnt down all the libraries. [7]
Last Stop[]
Yusef ordered the city guard to build a wall around the Last Stop quarter to avoid the rest of the city to be influenced by its filth. [8]
Besieged[]
In 1132 the Erba'a Alliance sieged the Jewel and launched an attack to end the reign of terror of the Caliph. [9]
Death[]
Yusef III was murdered by the Caliph during the Shattering of the Jewel. [5] The Sultan had dared to question the Caliph when she welcomed the Senpet into Medinaat al-Salaam, being destroyed by the Caliph herself, [10] who used the spell Discorporation against him in the middle of the Jewel's Court. [11] After a period of vacancy a new Sultan, Yusef's son, Effendi was appointed. [9]
