Yogo Tansaku was a socially inept but particularly intelligent and cunning young scholar of the Scorpion Clan.

Yogo Curse[]

Yogo's granddaughter Yogo Hiriko, the Yogo Daimyo, commissioned Tansaku to study the Yogo Curse's effects and a means by which it might be broken. He had been blithely unaware that Hiriko had been quite fond of him in their youth, but that her love had not been requited. Tansaku researched throughout the libraries of the Great Clans, but concluded the curse could not be broken by mortals. The only way to remove the curse was to remove that which it fed upon, so if no Yogo felt any love at all, then the curse would wither and die. The solution was ridiculous, so he turned his attention to circumventing the curse's effects. [1]

Monk[]

For another full decade, Tansaku and his followers delved into various magical styles renowned for its ability to foresee the future. Tansaku appeared before Yogo Hiriko thirty years after his assignment, offering a prediction about how Hiriko's own curse would impact her and how could it be avoided. Hiriko was disgusted and publicly denounced Tansaku, stripping him of his name and rank, ordering him to a monastery. Two years later Hiriko succumbed to the curse exactly as Tansaku had predicted she would and also retired to a monastery. [1]

Death[]

Hiriko's son Yogo Tomohiko was appointed as the new daimyo. When he recalled Tansaku, he knew Tansaku had been lost during a winter snowstorm. Tomohiko granted Tansaku's remaining followers leave to take the vassal name Tansaku in his honor. [2]
