Yasuki Tsanumi was the daimyo responsible for the Yasuki family breaking away from the Crane Clan during the Crane-Crab War. After the break, he had to enlist ronin to protect Yasuki business interests from the Crane. [1] [2] His family estate, Yasuki Yashiki, became the capital of the Yasuki. [3]
Demeanor[]
Kiringu was a peaceful man, and he was smart enough not to meet the Crane on their terms, the courts. In an act the Crane mocked as weakness, Kiringu quietly endured the insults and jeers from the Crane while continuing to assimilate himself and his family as important Crab vassals. [4]
Children[]
Kiringu had two sons, Yasuki Nobuto and Yasuki Jiriki. When his second son reclaimed a Crane village as part of their lands, the Kakita ordered a counterattack. The Crab Clan supported the newcomers, so the Crane were forced to withdraw, rather than escalate the conflict into open war. Kiringu bestowed the vassal family name Nobuto upon his first son and charged his descendants with maintaining strong ties to the Crab armies. [5]
Shrine[]
A shrine honoring his name was built at Yasuki Defiance. In the annals of Crane history, few villains were so despised as him. To the Crab, the heroic Yasuki Kiringu was the skilled negotiator who freed the persecuted Yasuki from their unjust treatment at the hands of the Crane. [6]
