Worldly Shintao was the term used for a primary philosophical view of the Tao of Shinsei emerged from the Brotherhood, opposite of the ascetic view. The monks who adhered to this doctrine argued that nothing could be truly learned or taught without engaging the world on its own terms. They suggested the Brotherhood should strive to be the force guiding the Empire toward wisdom and understanding, willing to take physical action in the defense of what they believed was right. [1]
