The World-Devourer, the Great Serpent, was an Orochi that appeared in the Endless Sea in front of Shinjo-no-Kami and the Ki-Rin Clan during their exodus outside the Emerald Empire. The beast told that she was the mother of earth and sea, and she hungered, menacing to consume all the world to birth a new world to consume. Shinjo realized this beast was the great enemy beyond the borders of Rokugan her clan had been finding and did battle with her. The monster swallowed half the ocean, and Shinjo along with it, and together they vanished beneath the waves. [1]
