The nezumi season of the Walking Time began after the Lean Time of each year ended. The Rite of Naming marked the beginning of the season. Two or three days after the Rite of Naming, the scouts returned from their journeys, and reported to the Chieftain of the tribe, who announced where the tribe would Walk for the season of the Growing Time. For many tribes, the camps for the Lean Time and the Growing Time were the same every year. Though all of spring was called the Walking Time, the Nezumi usually only traveled for about two weeks to their destination. [1]
