Tsubaki was the leader of a gang of twenty-five bandits. They attacked a caravan and stole several lacquered boxes which contained priceless original work of long-dead artisans, but during the assault they found themselves ambushed by superior forces of Seppun Magistrates. Along the survivors were his lieutenant Koushun and other seven bandits. His second lieutenant Tsuda went back to find Shoda and Hiro, but when he returned with Imperial forces revealed himself as Ujina Tsuda. All the gang was captured or killed. [1]
