Tsuba
The tsuba was the guard between the hilt and blade of a katana, wakizashi, or no-dachi. Some tsuba were simply round plates of metal, but many were formed in intricate and elaborate designs, [1] often reflecting the themes of a samurai's clan or family. [citation needed]
