Touchstone of Courage was a Rank 3 earth shūji which taught that armies were rarely routed in the field; instead, most collapsed when morale became impossible to maintain. As panic rose in the ranks, soldiers looked to leaders to set an example. The samurai spoke to the importance of duty or the desire to defend home to bring their troops back from the edge of chaos.
