Togashi Kaze was an ise zumi creator of the fighting style known as Kaze-Do.

Order of Kaimetsu-uo[]

A weak and starving Kaze appeared at the gates of a temple, asking for permission to stay. What he saw of the next few weeks astounded him - the monks were so intent on meditation that they neglected all else, so he decided to help them. Kaze showed them the simplest kata of kaze-do, claiming it was another type of meditation. Quickly the monks took to martial art, combining it with their meditation techniques. The monks founded a new sect of Shinseism and called themselves the Monks of Kaimetsu-uo. [1]

Death[]

In 268 [2] the Emperor Hantei Ningi had summoned the Dragon and ordered him to show his unarmed fighting style. As his techniques were intended only for peasants, as they weren't allowed to carry weapons, Kaze refused. Ningi ordered the Emerald Champion to execute Kaze, but when Emerald Champion Doji Kuzume refused to kill Kaze and committed seppuku the Emperor temporarily elevated Lion Clan Champion Matsu Noshin to the position and ordered him to execute Kaze, which he did. [3] [4]

Legacy[]

The Monks of Kaimetsu-uo were the only true source of Kaze-Do wisdom after the death of its creator. [5]

Notable Sayings[]

  • “Victory is easy. Be like the wind and your opponent will defeat himself.” [6]
  • “If you are fast and wise you will always be able to see what the enemy is doing before he acts. If you are fast and wise, you will always be able to defeat him. Killing is for the cruel.” [7]
