The Naming was the final test for the students of the Dojo of the First Glance. [1]
Test[]
The dojo's Master Sensei gathered the students in the courtyard shortly after dawn. He proceeded to rename fifty common items and actions that were used in every day life. For the next week, each student must use those new names when speaking. Those who failed even once were required to use the names for an additional day for each mistake and could not pass their gempukku until they had successfully completed the Naming for seven days with no errors. [1]
Meaning[]
This test tought that what they see and sense was far more important than what they were told by those under suspicion. Many Kitsuki Magistrates could see through almost any disguise. [1]
