The Temple of Soothing Jade was an asylum for those driven insane by the Shadowlands Taint. Permission for the Brotherhood of Shinsei to retire a patient here was given only to those who had served long and well, most notably Kuni Witch Hunters who had become Tainted. It stood near the Kaiu Wall on the edge of the Kuni Wastes. Those sent here were beyond hope, but could be calmed in some circumstances to find a tiny bit of peace. Inside the temple were courtyards and gardens to help ease the soul, but the entire compound was built like a prison- none had ever escaped, and if one of the inmates did, the Temple was within a distance that the monks could call for assistance from warriors on the Wall. The Kuni took an interest in the place, studying the Taint even as they assisted the Brotherhood in calming and aiding the souls of those who lived within. [1]
