Tea House
Tea was a plant used to make a common Rokugani beverage. It was prepared by pouring hot or boiling water over cured leaves of the tea plant. [1] Tea was served in the multiple Chashitsu, tea houses, all over the Empire. [2] Blooming tea was usually made by the Shinjo, and rarely by other Rokugani. [3] It was the most popular drink in Rokugan. [4]
Process[]
Tea leaves were a vital crop, and they required dedicated plantations as well as a significant amount of post-harvest processing. Tea plants could continue to produce fresh leaves for generations. They were densely grown and kept cropped to roughly waist height. The tea harvest occurred on a biweekly basis throughout the growing season, requiring an ongoing effort from a large workforce. Tea must be processed near the farm, as the leaves began to degrade unless quickly treated after harvest. [5]
