The Tashar was a naga of the Asp who awoke from the second Great Sleep in the 12th century.

The Tashar was attracted by the dance of the beautiful Shanishta, like cloud dancing on the wind. They were mated quickly, then they went on the first Great Sleep. [1]
First Awakening[]
The Tashar and the Shanishta woke up in Rokugan. First they fought humans, who were frightened by the beast, then they fought the Shadowlands alongside the Crab Clan. The madness of Hitomi made the Naga fought again humans, and again they turned against the Foul, in the War Against Shadow. During the Battle of Oblivion's Gate the couple fought together for the last time. Foul beasts wounded her deep and the Shanishta could not walk again. They entered in the second Great Sleep. [2]
Second Awakening[]
In 1160 the Tashar awaken again, but the Shanishta remained slept. He protected the city of Iyotisha from the Tsuno, who had been using the sleep of the Naga to travel between the Spirit Realms. The Tashar moved to Shinden Horiuchi where he met the Horiuchi Daimyo Horiuchi Shem-Zhe and the prominent courtier Miya Hatori, to whom the Naga renewed the alliance with the humans. [3]
