Tamedaore was a skilled ronin fighter whose lord was slain in the First Yasuki War. Having a knack for both military organization and mercantile commerce, he formed an otokodate, who earned a strong repute during the war, fighting alongside the Crane Clan. The ronin band was far larger, better supplied, and better organized than had been previously seen in Rokugan. By the year 400, fully a thousand men marched beneath his banner, and the band was known as The Thousand. [1]
