The following information is drawn from Japanese mythology, not canon L5R sources. It is presented here for its value as flavor and representation of the original sources from which the Legend of the Five Rings setting was created.

A ancient good-natured Japanese tree-deity, the goddess of the kitchen. She lives in an enoki or nettle tree. It is custom that old dolls may not be thrown away but should instead be dedicated to Kojin by placing it at the roots of an enoki tree. (Encyclopedia Mythica)
