The rank of Taisa designated the captain of a legion, under the command of a shireikan.
Rank[]
Taisa were often the sons or daughters of daimyos, put in that position because of their status rather than their experience. [1] A taisa led five chui and their troops, or approximately 25,000 soldiers or cavalry. Unit size varied depending on the army and time period; each chui commanded between 100 and 8,000 troops.
Naga[]
The Naga called prayatna to their captains, which commanded five sparsa and their warriors. [2]
