The Striking as Fire was Rank 1 general kata which taught a bushi that victory could not be achieved through defense alone, and it was a poor student of the sword who forgot that their most important goal was to cut down their enemy. A bushi fiercely pressed the attack, trying to force an error or open an opportunity to end their enemy. [3]

Victory cannot be achieved through defense alone, and it is a poor student of the sword who forgets that their most important goal is simple: cut down their enemy. All else fades to the background as the bushi fiercely presses the attack, trying to force an error or open an opportunity to end their foe.

Activation: When you make a Martial Arts [Melee, Ranged, or Unarmed] (Fire) Attack action check, you may spend Opportunity in the following way:

Fire, 1 or more: The next time your target suffers a critical strike, increase its severity by 1 per Opportunity spent this way. This effect persists until the end of your next turn.
