Spirit ribbons were used by the Toritaka. Many locations that were known to have violent pasts were marked by white ribbons that indicate the location of a haunting spirit. [1]

The Toritaka spirit ribbons were used to banish spirits from Ningen-do. The spirit was sent back to their proper realm. They would return in time, decades, perhaps even centuries, must pass. [2]
