Please note: This article is about the scourge of the Bloodspeakers. For other uses of the term, please see Takasho (disambiguation).

Soshi Takasho was a shugenja and magistrate of the Scorpion Clan during the 5th century and 6th century. [1]

Station[]

Takasho spent much of his life administering the Ryoko province of his father. [1]

Investigation[]

In 510 [2] Takasho was dispatched by the Scorpion Clan Champion Bayushi Rikoji to discover who in court could send him a cursed blade as a gift. Takasho quickly traced the sword back to a harmless-seeming Crane artimancer living in Otosan Uchi, Asahina Yajinden. Entering the court under an assumed name, he discreetly inquired where the shugenja might be found and was directed towards a small temple near the great heroes' cemetery. Akodo Minobe approached him, demanding to know what the Scorpion was up to. He had overheard Takasho's queries and suspected him of plotting against the Emperor. Takasho protested his innocence and tried to assuage the Lion's fears, but Minobe was adamant and both went to the temple. The talk with the resident monks convinced them the monks were hiding something. Minobe told Takasho of a similar sword which had been driven mad the Lion Clan Champion, and he went to find support from the Imperial Guard. Takasho returned alone to the temple, in disguise of a monk. He saw monks performing a ritual near the grave of Shiba Dorataki, a hero of the Phoenix Clan killed in the battle of White Stag. Covered with a Porcelain Mask, the reanimated corpse attacked him. Takasho managed to remove the mask, and the corpse fell silent. Takasho found Minlbe, explained him that there was a planning to raise the deads, and soon, two hundred guardsmen marched upon the temple. [3]

Rise of Iuchiban[]

With the help of the legionnaire Akodo Minobe, he exposed the secret cult of Bloodspeakers and Iuchiban and their plan to animate bodies in the Imperial Crypts. The Clans later united to defeat Iuchiban in the Battle of Stolen Graves. [2] Takasho found the Bloodspeaker's escape route, where he laid the blood sorcerer low with a powerful spell, allowing the Emperor's forces to apprehend him. [1] It was said that Minobe and Takasho had been rivals before the plot of Iuchiban. [4]

Aftermath[]

Takasho was given a high-ranking position in the Emerald Magistrates, and eventually became one of the chief assistants to the Emerald Champion. [1] A memorial was built in the Hojize district to honor their memory. [5]
