Soshi Ezo was a shinobi and shadow master of the Scorpion Clan.
Shinobi[]
Ezo used to forcefully brand his students, an habit that was seen as dangerous by his Clan. He was also discovered experimenting with the infamous art of kagenari, having many of his fellows students death during his tests. In 1113 the masters of his shinobi school attempted to kill Ezo, who faked his death. [1]
Hidden at Ryokō Owari[]
Ezo moved to Ryokō Owari Toshi with a few of his followers, and there he recruited new students. Mere weeks after his arrival his presence at the city was noted by the Kitsuki Investigators, who sent Kitsuki Obo to find him. Obo found evidence that a group was tattooing their bodies in dark rituals to grant themselves the ability to become one with shadows. The Investigator was intercepted and silently replaced soon after by Soshi Ezo. The shadow master worked to hide what Obo had discovered by lying the Kitsuki investigators ever since. Ezo established a rogue school, the Shadow Den Dōjō, where he continued to experiment on his pupils, most of whom did not survive. Those who survived had become ninja, forbidden by Imperial Edict and prosecuted by law. [1]
Death[]
Ezo attempted to return to the Scorpion's good graces, working tirelessly for ten years at it before revealing himself and his good work to the clan once more. However, since he head unable to refrain from his original sin of torturing people, Ezo was murdered in 1123 by Bayushi Aramoro, an old friend who had trained with him decades ago, before their paths parted. Ezo's students fled, and only Shosuro Takao, his remaining senior student, alongside with his apprentice Soshi Aoi, remained loyal to his teachings. To keep Ezo's activities in secret Aoi eventually confessed as Obo's murder, and Takao disappeared, taking the instruments of the Shadow Den Dōjō's rituals with him. [1]
