The Silken sects was one of the ten Kolat sects.
Purpose[]
Its purpose was to gather information useful to the Kolat conspiracy. [1]
Resources[]
It had operative in every city of Rokugan. Most of its operatives were geisha, courtier, artisan or heimin. Because most of them spent their life building up their cover, these agents were not used in field operation: they were too expensive to be expendable. [1]
Tiger Sect Scrutiny[]
Agents of this sect were closely watched by the Tiger Sect: they could easily get too curious, or develop attachment to the non-Kolat which they encountered every day. [1]
Internal Debate[]
After the crippling attacks of the Lying Darkness and Shinjo's purge the kolat were disorganized, and many critical agents were isolated. The organization sought a new focus, torn between their desire to remake the Celestial Order and the more pragmatic desire to ensure the organizations existence. The Tiger, Cloud, Lotus, and Dream Masters were traditional Kolat, with Master Cloud the most vocal member of the group. The Steel, Coin, Silk, and Chrysanthemum Masters all adhered to the modern philosophy. Neither Master Jade nor Master Roc seemed interested in this ongoing debate. [2] The latter philosophy was championed by Morito and it seemed to be winning out. [3]
Fall of the Hidden Temple[]
Few Silk Sect agents actually died when the Hidden Temple fell, but the loss of their central headquarters left them helpless, unable to report their information or put it to use. [4]
Master Silk[]
A known Master Silk was Kakita Kyruko, [5] who was nominated for this position by Master Cloud Isawa Korekado. [1] She was killed by Tsuruchi Etsui, a one-time member of the Kolat. [6]
