Shosuro Takeru was the chief retainer of Bayushi Kachiko, [1] the Imperial Advisor, in charge of ferreting out her Lady's secrets. [2] He used to play Go with the Unicorn ambassador Ide Tadaji. [3] Their long games, played on one of the islands in the Imperial Water Garden, were a great source of solace to both men. [4]
