Shosuro Kenjo was a samurai-ko who founded of the geisha house Uchi no Chiisaite, or "The House of Little Hands." [1]

Kenjo sold herself into service at a very young age, learned the trade, then bought her own contract back, to open her own house and school. [1]
School[]
Her geisha came from low-ranking women facing a life in a nunnery rather than marriage. They were strictly trained and many of the girls ended up as serving wenches rather than geisha. Only those who endured became some of the most famous women in Rokugan. [1]
