Shosuro Encho was a playwright oft the Scorpion Clan who wrote a kabuki adaptation of the Tale of the Peony Lantern, one of the most popular stories collected in the Hyakumonogatari Kaidenkai, a comprehensive monogatari of popular Kwaidan. [1]
