Please note: This article is about the material to make fabrics. For other uses of the term, please see Shiruku (disambiguation). |
Shiruku was the Rokugani word for silk, [1] the predominant material in Rokugan to make fabrics. [2] It was the most valuable commodity of a farm. It was so valuable that even bad silk was kept to be sold in the marketplace. [3] Leaves of mulberry trees were used for feeding silkworms. [4] [5]
Kimono[]
Silk was valued for its texture, appearance, and comfort. It was used originally to make kimono, for its protection against arrows. Silk did not tear when struck with an arrow, instead wrapping around the piercing point. This made the resulting wound less grievous and easier to treat. [6]
