Shiranai Toshi

The Darkness City (L6) in the Shiranai province, was founded in the lee of Lookout Mountain, a singular mountain rising from the Lion plains. The ancient Ikoma castle dated back to the occupation of Unicorn lands in their absence.

Foundation

Shiranai Toshi (L6)

Ikoma scouts were seeking a suitable place to establish a Lion city in the empty lands of the Ki-Rin Clan. The land began to shake in violence while a great mountain "grew" from the ground only a mile away from them. The scout named it Lookout Mountain, as from its vantage one could see far and wide across the plains. The city built was named Darkness City because for at least half of every day the shadow of the mountain covered the city.

Return of the Ki-Rin

After the Return of the Ki-Rin, the Lion ceded most of their lands back to them, but refused to return the land of Shiranai Toshi to the Otaku family. Because of this, the Ide had been contesting the city with the Ikoma since their return, and Unicorn were generally not welcome within the city.

Chagatai's Ambition

Following the War of the Rich Frog in 1166 the castle became heavily guarded, warding against the threat of a Unicorn invasion. In 1168-1169 the Unicorn Clan Champion Moto Chagatai made a move to take the Imperial City in the Khan's Defiance and proclaim himself Emperor. His initial attack was against the Lion, overrunning three border posts and sacking Shiranai Toshi. It was unknown the exact extent of damage to the city. The Lion defenders were slaughtered to a man, including their commander, Akodo Rokuro.

Lookout Mountain is located in the Kitsu lands at Foshi Province (center of triangle Foshi, Tonfajutsen, Bishamon Seido) as per Legend of the Five Rings; Third Edition page 306, but Shirani Toshi is located in the border with the Unicorn, at Shiranai Province, far away of Foshi Province, as per any RPG source as Secrets of the Lion page 95, location L6. The conflict is maintained at Great Clans page 128, where Kenson Gakka is placed southwest of the mountain, placing the outcrop in the Kitsu area, but saying at the same time that Kenson Gakka is southwest of Shiranai Toshi, which is clearly impossible.
