Seppun Nishiko was an air shugenja and the Seppun Daimyo.
Daimyo[]
Nishiko was appointed at a young age by Iweko I. Her connection to the air kami and her shrewd instincts made Nishiko a powerful contender in the political arena. [1] Her second child was a daughter, Seppun Yasuhiko. [2]
Undermining the Otomo[]
Somehow the Crane Clan Champion Doji Makoto entangled a nakodo friend of Nishiko in a subtle plan to seize power from the Otomo family. [3]
Seeking a Heir[]
In 1200 Nishiko was only 12 years from retirement. She had begun wondering which of her children, or future grandchildren, should act as her replacement. [1]
War on the Empire[]
During the festivals predating Iweko Seiken's coronation, the Imperial Heir had publicly humiliated Daigotsu Kanpeki by announcing that he would remove him as Spider Clan Champion. Seiken's brother, Iweko Shibatsu would join the Susumu family as their daimyo and become Lord Spider. Kanpeki considered this as betrayal of the deal between his father and Iweko I and declared war on the Empire. [4]
