The Seppun Honor Guard, the Miharu, [1] were the personal bodyguards of important Imperial family members and officials. The best of them were entrusted with the protection of the Emperor themself. [2] They were led by their Captain. [3] They used to wear lacquered armors. [4]
Tradition[]
The Palace Guard were among the most accomplished warriors in the Empire. All of their considerable skill was focused on a single purpose: protecting the Emperor. Defense and acting as bodyguards were their ultimate purposes, and all of their combat tactics and techniques were designed to that end. Even their great skill in iaijutsu was intended only to allow them to draw their blades quickly against sudden attack, rather than during formal dueling. [5] They were supremely patient, trained to stand utterly motionless in their place of guard, yet remaining acutely aware of their surroundings and constantly ready to burst into action at the first hint of any threat.
