Scholars of the First Dawn was a sect of the Brotherhood of Shinsei devoted to Sengen, the Fortune of Mount Sengen. Its single monastery sat at the foot of the mount. They believed that Enlightenment transcended time, devoted to the study of the world that existed before the appearance of mankind itself in Ningen-do, seeking out the knowledge of the Naga, the Nezumi, the Kitsu, and so on. The First Dawn monks saw humanity as one small piece of a vastly larger whole, and the current dominance of human beings was as transient as any other. [1]
