Sang Kauw was a weapon of a highly skilled and properly trained sohei. The shaft had a metal spike at each end. In the weapon's midsection one version had a metal shield, while other had a crescent shaped blade. The center section contained a formed grip where the weapon was held. The shaft was used to parry and the spiked ends were used as piercing or slashing weapon on bare skin. [1] In ancient times they were the primary weapon of several tribes. The majority of those who did employ the weapon in Rokugan were found in the Scorpion lands, home to most of the ancient tribes who revered the weapon. [2]
