Samisen was a lute, [1] usually made from sandalwood with three-string made from twisted silk, which were plucked or struck with a tortoiseshell pick. It was in some ways the most popular stringed instrument in Rokugan. It was played in theater, by geisha, [2] and Scorpion girls. [3]
