Salamanders were anphibians of lizard-like appearance which could be found in the Mantis Islands [1] and in the Itochu River, within the Naishou Province. [2] Giant Salamanders were those placid amphibian with long lifespan which could grow up to six feet long. It could bite if irritated, and excreted a milky substance smelling like pepper when threatened. [3]
