Isawa Rujo was a Master of Earth during the 12th century who became the ronin Rujo after he lost a Taryu-Jiai duel and obliged to step down as Master.
Master of Earth[]
Isawa Rujo was a prideful man who became one of the youngest Acolytes of Earth in centuries. When the Master of Earth retired he was chosen as the new harsh and unforgiving Master. [1]
Famous Taryu-Jiai[]
In 1119, Rujo became upset with young Isawa Tadaka, who spent all of his time in Crab lands with the Kuni. Ordering him to return home, Tadaka challenged Rujo to a duel, and the loser would leave the clan to be ronin. Rujo accepted and lost. [2] [3]
Ronin[]
Now a ronin, Rujo wandered the Empire, searching for a better understanding of the world. In time he came to secretly thank Tadaka for opening his eyes. Rujo used his gifts for the well-being of the people. [4]
Death[]
During the Scorpion Coup he was at Otosan Uchi. It was the work of Rujo that managed to undo the Scorpion magic turning the Enchanted Walls against the assembled forces of the other clans, but was killed by the Scorpion in the process. [4]
