Kaiu Kabe

Kaiu Kabe is also known as the Carpenter Wall, and is the first line of defense the Empire has against the Shadowlands. For centuries it has been a very physical demarcation of the southern border of Rokugan. On its north side lies the lands of the Crab Clan, and on its south the blighted stretches of the Shadowlands. It is here that the forces of Rokugan have entrenched themselves in their eternal battle against the forces of Jigoku.

The Yasuki family is the public face of the Crab Clan. Where the other families all deal daily with the horrors of the Shadowlands, the Yasuki are the Crab's diplomatic and economic force. Yasuki courtiers are seen in courts representing the Crab much more than any of the other families, and their merchants are by far the most crafty in all of Rokugan. The Yasuki family was originally a family of the Crane Clan, but broke from the Crane in the 4th century and were quickly incorporated into the Crab Clan.

Kisada is the Fortune of Persistence, as named by Emperor Toturi I. In life he was Crab Clan Champion Hida Kisada. He married Hida Tsuriko. The couple had two sons, Hida Yakamo and Hida Sukune, and one daughter Hida O-Ushi. His ambitious nature caused him to lead the Crab army into the capital during the Clan War and attempt to take the throne. Kisada was mortally wounded in this attempt, but refused to die for two whole years afterwards.
