Otomo Terumoto was a courtier of the Imperial Families and the Otomo Daimyo.
Family[]
The younger son of Otomo Taneji, the Otomo Daimyo, he became his father's heir when his elder brother, Otomo Takuan, married in the Susumu family of the Spider Clan. [1] Terumoto had always been openly antagonistic towards his father, personally jealous at the greater man's talents and skills. He sought to delve back into the Otomo's tendency towards blackmail, manipulation, and outright intimidation. [2]
Daimyo[]
In the year 1200 Terumoto became the new lord of the Otomo after Taneji was killed by Kommei no Oni, during the Imperial Winter Court at Toshi Ranbo. [3] Weeks after the assault, Terumoto awoke confused and uncertain of himself. Because of the oni's strange powers, it was possible the soul of Taneji had been trapped within Terumoto's body, haunted him, or had completely taken over. [2] Terumoto behaviour became bizaree, and did not bathe for weeks. In his feverish state, Terumoto foresaw the rise of Jigoku, and the rebellion of the Spider against the Empire. He was cared by Otomo Demiyah, and eventually Terumoto recovered from his fever dreams. [3] During the time Terumoto was unable to perform his duties, Demiyah had become the acting leader of the Otomo. [4]
War on the Empire[]
During the festivals predating Iweko Seiken's coronation, the Imperial Heir had publicly humiliated Daigotsu Kanpeki by announcing that he would remove him as Spider Clan Champion. Seiken's brother, Iweko Shibatsu would join the Susumu family as their daimyo and become Lord Spider. Kanpeki considered this as betrayal of the deal between his father and Iweko I and declared war on the Empire. [5]
