The Northern Steppes were the windy plains of the yobanjin north of the Unicorn territory. [1] The Great Wall of the North separated the Empire from the steppes and wastes to the north. Yobanjin built villages and crude fortresses in the mountains around the edges of the northern steppes. [2]

The Moto descended from the wild, nomadic, barbarian tribes who lived originally in these steppes, [3] and from time to time their descendants had ridden them. [4]
