Niten (TCG)

Niten

Niten, “Two Heavens,” [1] was an essay on the way of two swords written in the first century by Mirumoto Hojatsu, based on the teachings of his adoptive father Mirumoto. [2] Its practitioners wielded a Katana in one hand and the Wakizashi in the other. [3]

Principles[]

The essay Niten presented five stances developed specifically for two-weapon fighting. Developed with the goal of killing gracefully and efficiently, the niten technique and the essay on it teach not just how to move and how to strike, but also how to think. Niten masters acted with uncanny perception and wielded their blades with deadly precision. [4]

Notable Quotes[]

  • "When you understand the path of the sword, your adversary can do nothing you cannot foresee." [5] [6]
  • “An empty mind reacts without hesitation, strikes without distraction, and acts without fear.” [7]
  • “There is no thought, there is only the will. Will your opponent to be killed; your mind, body, and blade will become as one, and make it so.” [4]
