Ngjk was a zokujin who in 1167 was summoned by the Dragon shugenja Kitsuki Yasunobu to aid Yasunobu, Mirumoto Binya and the gunso Mirumoto Kawanari in an investigation into the Crane. The Crane were suspected of hoarding a sinister artifact in their northern regions, and the Dragon said they were allies of the prophet Kjgkt, resulting in Ngjk willingly aiding them in their quest. Ngjk smelled something strange in the surroindings and detected a hidden cache. A small stone chamber was lined with weapons and a number of large barrels, filled with illegal gaijin pepper. Possession of gunpowder was in violation of Imperial Decree and those found with it were to be executed. The Dragon were spotted by a group of disguised Harriers under the command of Daidoji Shihei. Binya was quickly cut down in the ensuing fight, and Yasunobu wounded despite Ngjk using its Earth magic in their defense. Yasunobu sacrificed himself to allow Kawanari to escape, hurling a ball of flame into the hollow. In doing so caused the powder to explode, killing Ngjk and all the Harriers except Shihei.[1]
