Netsuke

A Netsuke (根付 ne "root" and tsuke "to attach") were carved, button-like toggle miniature sculptures that served as fasteners that secured the cord at the top of the obi of hunged containers that stored their personal belongings, such as pipes, tobacco, money, seals, or medicines.
