Nagameru and Kan'o were the twin Fortunes of sakura trees. Cherry Blossom Festival was held on their honor. Special care was made to appeal to Nagameru, who was fickle and known to ruin the event with spring storms. Nagameru's name meaned "to gaze upon," but spelled differently, it also meaned "it rains a long time." [1]
