Origin[]
This school was previously known as the Moto Shugenja. Following the death of Moto Gaheris and his grandson Moto Chagatai's treaty with the Shi-Tien Yen-Wang, the Moto shugenja gathered together to create a new school, the Priests of Death. They combined their knowledge of elemental magic with the unique abilities conferred upon them by the Shi-Tien Yen-Wang. [2]
Dojo[]
In the Honored Watch Castle Dojo the Unicorn shugenja trained their skills to become a Death Priest. [3]
Tradition[]
In the beginning Death Priests were mostly Moto family members. [4] Many members of the Iuchi family had embraced the Lords of Death, accustomed as the family was to strange religions and practices. Death Priests were known throughout the Empire for their dark, severe demeanor, and for the potency of the Lords’ favor when granted during battle. The Shi-Tien Yen-Wang had become lesser Fortunes, and as a result there were even a small number of shugenja in other clans who had taken up worship of the Lords. Their severity fitted well with the traditional samurai mindset, but only those priests who accepted their dual role as warriors were suitable for service in the eyes of the Lords of Death. [5]
Benefits[]
The power granted by the Lords of Death gave the Moto Death Priests amazing control over both life and death. Combine this power with their affinity for the element of Water, and the Moto Death Priests were a force to be reckoned with. [5]
