Mori was the Rokugani word for Forests or Woodlands. [1]

Rokugani Forests[]

At one time a large forest covered much of the lands which would be known as Rokugan. Over time it receded, first because of changes in the land and the climate, and later, due to the encroachment of the Empire and the civilizations that preceded it. Remnants of that original wilderness were the Isawa Forest, the Kitsune Forest, and the Shinomen Forest. [2] Northern forests had a tendency to favor coniferous trees, while the south had deciduous trees, bamboo, and some fruit trees. Island forests were similar to those in the south, but with lighter woods, palm trees, and a stunning variety of fruit-bearing trees. The most important resource to come from the forest was lumber, a vital resource for construction, decoration, tools, and weapons. Berries, mushrooms, herbs, flowers, leaves, bark, and even insects were all gathered from the woods for food and to serve as components in medicines and alchemical potions. Hinin hunters and trappers cought game for meat, fur, and leather. Forest game included deer, antelope, hare, wild pig, squirrel, and pheasant. [3]
