Mirumoto Turan was the Mirumoto Daimyo during the Dragon-Crab War in the 5th century.
Earning an ally[]
In 438 Turan attended winter court at Kyuden Bayushi. A neighboring provincial daimyo, Akodo Hatsu, committed a serious brech of etiquette which was diminished by the timely intervention of Turan. Hatsu found himself deeply indebted to the Dragon. [1]
Dragon-Crab War[]
Trade disagreement with the Crab[]
In 439 trade dispute broke between the Dragon and Crab. Otomo and Miya mediation found the Dragon had over-represented the value of their goods. A subordinate of Mirumoto Turan committed seppuku to cleanse the shame, but the Crab looked for an excuse for war. In 440 during a winter court hosted by Hatsu, an argument ensued by Turan over trade imbalances with Yasuki Hiroaki, led to the Crab courtier's ejection from the court. The Crab reacted declaring the Dragon-Crab War for the slight. [2]
Requesting Lion aid[]
Turan petitioned the Lion Clan Champion for the assistance of the Lion Clan in the war, and specifically the aid of Matsu Hitomi and her unit. [3] Turan also called Hatsu on his favor, who sent a Lion legion led by Hitomi's brother, Matsu Masaru and Akodo Godaigo. Hitomi swore she would complete any task Turan set to her. [4]
Crab sues for Peace[]
During the fight against the Crab Masaru died and the Lion forces were commanded by Hitomi. She eventually defeated the Crab invading forces, forcing them to sue for peace in 441. Hitomi returned triumphant. [4]
Turning on Lion[]
The unscrupulous Turan turned on his former allies and ordered Hitomi to conquer a Lion castle on his behalf, [4] which was eventually defended by Hitomi's lover, Akodo Godaigo. [3]
Death[]
The Dragon's army was stationed at the Plain of Fast Troubles when Hitomi decided by love to break her vows. She entered the Dragon leader's tent at night and battling him without weapons or armor. It was the only way to duel and kill him without giving him time to alert everyone. [5]
