Matsu Hiroru was the younger brother of Matsu Tsuko, who had self-proclaimed the Lion Clan Champion in 1123. His parents [1] were the Matsu Daimyō Matsu Uniri and Matsu Yunaki. Uniri was assassinated prior to the Battle of Fate Gorge. [2]

Hiroru's face was characteristically expressionless. He was appointed in the Imperial Court, alongside Akodo Kage, and the newly arrived Kitsu Motso. Ikoma Ujiaki, the Ambassador at court, was dismissed by the new Imperial Regent Kakita Yoshi, after their confrontation when Yoshi ordered the Lion to remove their troops from Crane and Unicorn territory.
