Mako was a bushi of the Tsume family.
Tsume family[]
He was one of the personal bodyguards of the Tsume Daimyo Tsume Retsu. He was bribed by Retsu's son, Tsume Takashi, to allow the entrance to the Kyotei Castle of a geisha. Takashi had fallen in love with the girl, and Mako took the money despite allowing the girl in because of his total loyalty to Takashi. [1]
Death[]
Mako was one of the ten samurai who were on duty when Retsu was found murdered in his chambers, stabbed in the heart. The ten were allowed to commit seppuku for their failure [1] in 1122. [2]
