Kyodai, 'brother', was a concept introduced by the Kami Akodo himself in the Akodo family, [1] and also the Rokugani term for Great. [2]
"Every Akodo is your brother, and so you are mine."

Ceremony[]
Through a ritual, the Kyodai Ceremony, the Lion reminded his commands. After it the new ranks gave his name unto the records of the Akodo lineage. [1]
- If an Akodo battled another, they would both be punished as the murderer of his family.
- The doshi were a partnership of equals.
- No one had to shame the doshi or stain his family name.
- It was not allowed the doshi to die without honor.
