Kyotei Castle
Kyūden Kyotei, also known as Kyotei Castle, [1] was located in the Kintani Valley, [2] within the Anshin Province, [3] and near the cities of Nikesake and Toshi Ranbo. [4] The castle and the nearby town of Chizuken laid along a merchant's road between Otosan Uchi and Toshi Ranbo, strategically located between Lion, Crane, and Phoenix lands. [5]
Crane Rule[]
The lands, which belonged to the Damasu family, vassals of the Lion, were conquered by the Tsume family in 1103. [5] To shore up the Crane Clan's logistical lines to Toshi Ranbo Lord Tsume Retsu besieged the castle, eventually overcoming its defenses and slaughtering every member of the Damasu family. [6] The Doji family allowed Retsu to hold the castle as its new lord, and the valley became the ancestral land of the Tsume family. [5]
