Kuni Nikoma was a scholar who dabbled in maho and lived around the second century IC. His grandfather had been a magistrate working along with Kuni himself, before Kuni Nakanu's time. [1]
Research[]
Nikoma got access to a scroll of his grandfather. The Kuni secretly believed that some sort of rift existed deep within the Shadowlands, a gateway that reached into Jigoku, the Realm of Evil. Deep in the Shadowlands Nikoma made a tower to proceed with his study. He developed a ritual to reach into that essence, that dark blood of another realm, and draw something to him. Following on years-long research his life and his own theories, he performed what's possibly the first ever summoning and naming of an oni. [1]
Ritual of Summoning[]
Nikoma came to a cave set into the obsidian cliffs of the Shadowlands. He prepared a inner circle of wards with dye mixed with his own blood, and a outer circle with blood of his deceased comrades. Nikoma recited the spells he had created, and reached out through the shadows. The oni summoned deceived Nikoma, who granted his blood and name, to create Nikoma no Oni. [1]
Death[]
The wards of the inner circle were destroyed when Nikuma spilled his own blood, and he was immediately slaughtered by Nikoma no Oni. The Oni Lord, that would be known much later as The Maw, became imprisoned within the wards placed by Nikoma in the outer circle. [1]
